The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Farmerline Limited, Mr. Alloysius Attah, is expected to feature as a key speaker at the GSMA World Mobile Congress, which opens today in Barcelona.

The four day event, which is on the theme, “Creating What’s Next” will also feature world class CEO’s like Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, Ginni Rometty, the President and CEO of IBM, Jon Matonis, Executive Director and Board Member of Bitcoin Foundation, John Chambers, Chairman and CEO of Cisco, among others.

The GSMA Mobile World Congress is a combination of the world’s largest exhibition for the mobile industry, and a Conference featuring prominent executive representing mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers, vendors and content owners from across the world. The event, initially named as GSM World Congress and later renamed as the 3GM World Congress, is still often referred to as 3GSM World.

This year, the Congress expects more than 72, 000 attendees and seeks to examine the present state, and also debate the future of the mobile industry with in-depth analysis of the various trends that are currently shaping it.

The Conference, on the other hand, will run across the full length of the Mobile Congress and will continue to be the central focus for the event; challenging and educating attendees, whilst covering the latest technological developments, next-generation services and growth strategies.

The CEO of Farmerline, Mr. Attah, and his team of professionals are poised to make the most of the platform the Congress provides, increase accomplishments and push forward the vision of the organization, which is to provide paid services that allow farmers access key information to drive their operations.

The company further depends on Voice and SMS platforms to provide improved information access and communication channels for smallholder farmers and others stakeholder-and the Mobile Congress will serve a learning ground for the team so as to deepen its commitment to developing solutions that will empower farming communities in Ghana and across the continent.

As part of its missions Farmerline continues to increase agricultural information flow, uptake and accountability in the services delivered to farmers and empower agricultural workers and actors along the value chain to collect and share information to drive food security.

Currently, more than 2000 smallholder farmers and fishermen are benefiting from the web-based mobile communication services offered by the company. 1000 subsistence farmers from northern Ghana and 1000 fishermen in the southern parts of the country are using the platform.

Through the services, agricultural workers send messages such as weather forecast alert, market prices, new farming techniques, agrochemical applications and inputs and finance to farmers and fishermen at subsidize fees. The platform also provides the option to collect data from farmers and fishermen, and also enables them to call into the system for advice.

There are many different types of learning opportunities, sessions and seminars that take place at the Mobile World Congress. Each of them is planned adequately with the intention of better equipping the attendee.

The Conference sessions: this is a key component of the Congress which features executives from leading companies in the mobile space and experts from adjacent industries, which are creating what’s next. Sessions are composed of presentations, panel discussions and audience questions.

The Mobile World Congress exhibition: the exhibition will showcase the technologies, products and services that are shaping the future of the mobile industry, from network infrastructure to mobile handsets and devices to software and applications and much more. More than 1,700 companies are expected to participate in the exhibition.

Keynotes:  the morning keynote sessions are part of the conference programme and therefore require a platinum, gold or silver pass entry.

Mobile World Live Keynotes: the Keynotes advertised as Mobile World Live Keynotes are streamed live on www.MobileWorld Live.com and may be viewed by anyone with a computer or mobile service.

App Developer Conferences: the ADC’s are sessions specifically for the app community. Led and managed by our App Planet Supporting Sponsors, these featured programmes allow developers and members of the mobile app community to meet platforms and device manufacturers, receive insights and help in marketing apps and network with other developers.

Forum series: the Forum series was introduced in 2011 and has proven to be wildly popular. Forums are focused on a single industry topic such as Mobile Cloud, LTE or Green Technology. They are led by four leaders in the particular topic. Attendees can attend part or all of the day-long forums.
